Rekindling Ancestral Memory Circle
This is a 7-month circle for European-descended settlers in North America. We will engage with our European ancestors toward rekindling ancestral memory, mutual healing, forgiveness, and reparations. This circle will be a respectful, curious, and nurturing space for community dialogue. Participants will ritually build and tend ancestor altars, discover more about our family stories, and translate these experiences into real-world action through a personal reparations plan.

Out in the Open’s Rural LGBTQ+ Power and Belonging Fellowship Retreat
Out in the Open’s Rural LGBTQ+ Power and Belonging Fellowship Retreat
Out in the Open is gathering at Rockweed for the weekend in preparation for their 2024 Power and Belonging Fellowship program, launching in 2024.
This is a private event, but you can learn more about the Fellowship below, and here!
Do you dream of rural, intergenerational, multiracial, cross-class gatherings with all of your neighbors? Where you're laughing together and talking about how good the food is AND how to equitably share and access resources, or how to approach your local schools' emerging book bans? Are you longing for gatherings where you feel safe discussing what's happening in your community and like you belong in the work of figuring out what to do about it together?
Out in the Open is launching a pilot cohort of our Rural LGBTQ+ Power and Belonging (RLPB) Fellowship focused on moving us closer to that vision! This is the first of three rounds of this Fellowship we’ll host before the end of 2024.
During the Fellowship we will focus on:
Movement building in rural areas
Relationship building
Communication practices
Racial justice in rural areas
Responsive learning and facilitation - ie: how to be flexible and prioritize attendee needs within a hosted gathering
The role of art and culture in building movements
Rural BIPOC experiences
Cross class conversations
LGBTQ+ identity
Safety planning and seeking support from your neighbors

Awakening Ancestral Memory Imbolc Herbal Circle
*Please note that the time for this circle has changed from 5:30-8 to 5-7:30
You can also make a cash or check donation at the circle.
Imbolc is the cross-quarter day between winter solstice and spring equinox. “Imbolc” is a Gaelic term that means “in the belly” and is thought to refer to the time of the year when the sheep were pregnant with their lambs. Imbolc is also the celebration of Brigid, the pagan goddess of poetry, wisdom, healing and smithing. In this circle we will gather to honor our winter process, the return of the light and the quiet stirring of the seeds as they begin to wake from their winter’s sleep. We will also explore what seeds within us are ready to stir.
We will discuss the many incredible gifts of the herb Rosemary, who offers us warmth and stimulation as well as support for digestion and the liver, memory, immunity, hair growth and so much more.
Held in a gentle and loving container, we will also call on the spirit of Rosemary to help us awaken to the ancestral memories we all carry that inform how we walk in the world. We will honor our ancestors, and touch on settler colonialism, whiteness and the work of repair that is needed so that we can be in true connection with the land and each other, and in service to healing and return to wholeness of all beings on Earth.
Deb Soule is an herbalist, gardener and founder of Avena Botanicals in Rockport, ME. Lauren Valle is a gardener and community herbalist who practices through Marigold Healing Arts at the Rockweed Center in Belfast.
This circle is limited to 20 participants—please register below to attend.
We will have vegan, gluten-free soup available if you would like to come early, settle in and fill your belly.
Doors will be closed at the start of the circle at 5:30.
Please bring a notebook and pen and wear comfortable clothing.
Masks are welcome. The Rockweed center also has air filtration.

Sorry, Not Sorry: An Apology Lab
Sorry, Not Sorry: An Apology Lab
Wednesdays, 4-7pm
January 10, 17, 24, 31, snow date February 7
Sorry, Not Sorry is an opportunity to practice the skill (and art!) of apologizing. It is a place to be curious, reflective, playful, and to reach for transformation and repair. How does improving our capacity to give a genuine apology benefit our relationships and community? We are all beautiful and fallible humans, and we will all hurt or be hurt by those that we care for — what support do we need to turn towards each other after conflict and rupture?
This is intended to be a space of collective exploration, not one of expertise. Participants are invited to join for one, some, or all of the sessions, and will help shape how the project will develop and unfold through the 4 weeks via a combination of light facilitation, group and one-on-one discussion, and time to research, practice, create, and explore.
You are invited to join Moriah Helms and Devon Kelley-Yurdin in co-creating Sorry, Not Sorry: An Apology Lab for four Wednesdays in January. This lab was born from a need for collective skill-building felt and observed by your co-creators, who are both committed to exploring creative ways to tend to complex ecosystems of relationships within small, rural community, through this Lab and beyond.
