ROCKWEED COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS

Welcome! The Rockweed Center is a community gathering space in downtown Belfast for building a resilient, joyful and connected culture that strives to be a refuge for all.

1.     During the hours that we are open to the public (M-F, 9-4) there is always a trained volunteer host on duty running the space. The host is available to greet new folks, answer questions and uphold these community agreements.

Our goal is to foster a “coffee shop atmosphere”, during drop-in hours which includes:

  •  conversation and engagement at respectful volumes

  • independent work and study, opportunity for folks to be quietly in their own “bubble”

  • children are welcome with adult supervision and are expected to follow these agreements. The Rockweed Center is not available for daycare. Please do not leave your children unattended unless you have made arrangements with another adult to watch your child. Hosts are not babysitters.

2.     Feel free to move the furniture around. Please leave the chairs and the space as you found it when you leave.

3.     Beverages and snacks are free. Please follow the guidelines posted at the Snack Hutch for washing dishes and cleaning up. Thank you for cleaning up after yourself!

4.     Please don’t come to Rockweed if you sick. A host may ask you to leave if you are obviously not well. We are committed to making this space as welcoming as possible to the most people, including immune-sensitive folks.

5.     The Rockweed Center’s mission states that we strive to be a refuge for all. This is an anti-racist, anti-sexist space dedicated to queer and trans allyship and to serving as secure space for all marginalized folks. We are actively working to grow and develop in these areas and to walk our talk.

We encourage folks to write to us about any experiences they have at Rockweed that fall short of these agreements, or any ways we could make the space a better place for all.
